The Veterans Run 91 is a meaningful and scenic motorcycle route connecting Johnson City, Tennessee, to Tazewell, Virginia and the Back of the Dragon. The ride begins at the Mountain Home National Cemetery, near the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, making it a fitting starting point for a route dedicated to honoring America’s veterans. From Johnson City, riders travel through Elizabethton before heading north toward the mountain roads of Northeast Tennessee.

The route continues into Shady Valley, where riders experience the first section of the famous Snake 421, one of the region’s best-known motorcycle roads. From there, the ride heads toward Mountain City, combining sweeping curves, mountain scenery, and the kind of winding pavement that makes this part of Tennessee a favorite among motorcyclists. The journey then continues north toward Damascus, Virginia, carrying riders deeper into the Appalachian Mountains.

From Damascus, the Veterans Run 91 continues through Saltville, Virginia, before making its way toward Liberty. Along the way, riders experience small mountain communities, historic countryside, forested roads, elevation changes, and miles of classic Appalachian riding. The route creates a memorable connection between Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia while giving riders an opportunity to experience several of the region’s most distinctive motorcycle destinations in a single journey.

The ride concludes at the Back of the Dragon Brewery in Tazewell, Virginia, providing the perfect gathering point after a full day on the road. The Veterans Run 91 is especially well suited for Veterans Day rides, American Legion and VFW events, veteran motorcycle organizations, memorial rides, benefit rides, and fundraising events supporting veteran-based charities. More than just a motorcycle route, Veterans Run 91 can become a ride with a purpose—bringing riders together to honor those who served while experiencing some of the best motorcycle roads in Tennessee and Virginia.
