The Liberty Loop is an exciting alternate motorcycle route connected to the legendary Back of the Dragon VA 16, giving riders even more curves, mountain roads, and Southwest Virginia scenery to explore. Starting from the Back of the Dragon Brewery, the ride heads south toward the community of Liberty, where the route quickly transitions from open highway into the winding backroads that make this part of Virginia such an incredible motorcycle destination.

From Liberty, riders turn left onto Route 608, following a twisting stretch of pavement that runs alongside Liberty Creek. The road winds through the valley with a mix of smooth bends, tighter corners, wooded sections, and peaceful mountain scenery. This portion of the ride offers a more secluded feel, giving riders a chance to experience the quiet backcountry roads surrounding the main Back of the Dragon route.

As the ride continues through White Store, the route turns onto Virginia Route 91, where the riding becomes even more exciting. Get ready for a long series of curves as Route 91 descends through the mountains toward Route 601, Freestone Highway. This section combines elevation changes, sweeping turns, tighter mountain corners, and beautiful views that make the Liberty Loop a great complement to the technical riding found on VA 16.

Freestone Highway then carries the ride back north toward Tannersville, where the Liberty Loop reconnects with the second half of the main BackoftheDragon16.com ride. Riders then follow Highway 61 back toward the Back of the Dragon Brewery, completing a scenic mountain loop packed with curves and Appalachian backroads. For riders looking to extend their Back of the Dragon experience beyond VA 16, the Liberty Loop delivers another memorable dose of Southwest Virginia motorcycle riding.
